Bolly Buzz: Surekha Sikhri passes away, Priyanka Chopra allegedly ignores the Royals at Wimbledon | Hindi Movie News

From Vijay re-appealing against the High Court‘s statement, to Karan Johar shelving ‘Takht’ and Priyanak Chopra giving Will and Kate the royal snub – here are the big headlines of the day.

B-town on Friday woke up to the sad news of actor Surekha Sikri’s demise. The National Award winner passed away this morning of a cardiac arrest. The 75-year-old had been suffering from complications arising from a second brain stroke. Following the news of her demise, Bollywood actors and former co-stars including Manoj Bajpayee, Randeep Hooda, Neena Gupta, Vijay Varma, Divya Dutta and many other TV stars took to social media to remember the late star for her brilliant work and honour her memory.

Heating things up on our news feed was Thalapathy Vijay who has now re-appealed to counter the statements made by a High Court Judge. Those keeping up with the cases against our film stars will know that Vijay was fined Rs. 1 lakh by the Madras High court for importing a luxurious car. The star had reportedly filed a petition seeking an entry tax on a car imported from the UK in 2012. However, the judge rejected his plea and dismissed the petition, while imposing a fine of Rs 1 lakh to be paid within 2 weeks. But it isn’t about the fine as much as it is about the statement made by the judge asking Vijay to be a “hero in real life” that had people fuming.

Meanwhile, the internet seems to have no chill. Priyanka Chopra found herself tangled in an internet conspiracy when fans claimed that the actress gave Prince William and Kate Middleton, the royal snub at the recent Wimbledon games. While the video going viral have left enough room for speculation, many believe PeeCee is team Meghan all the way.

Talking about royalty and heirs to the throne, Karan Johar’s magnum opus ‘Takht’ may have been put on the back burner. Our sources tell us, “Takht made no sense in the present context. It was meant to be an expensive historical costume drama.” As it was based on a rather controversial topic of the Moghuls in Indian history and the recent financial pitfalls, the director has allegedly decided to shelve the film for ‘Rocky Aur Rani Ki Prem Kahani’, a light-hearted romantic family film with Ranveer Singh and Alia Bhatt.

And we’re wrapping things up with a birthday song for Katrina Kaif! The diva to turned a year sexier today had love pouring in from all her friends and film industry fam. Everyone from Anushka Sharma to Kareena Kapoor Khan, Neha Dhupia to Arpita Khan Sharma sent the birthday girl their love. Not gonna lie, we kept refreshing our Insta feed one too many times to see what Vicky Kaushal had to say.
