The extension of lockdown in the state has already jeopardised the livelihood of cine workers now they have suffered another jolt with Maharashtra health minister Rajesh Tope putting a hold on vaccination of people in the age group of 18 to 44 years.

Ashok Dubey of FWICE says, “About 60 per cent of the workforce falls in this age bracket and this announcement putting a hold on vaccination is a huge setback for us. Most of our members were looking forward to going back on the sets with the vaccine shield”.

Aditya Chopra had recently written to Uddhav Thackeray requesting help to facilitate his initiative of getting 25,000 workers of the film industry vaccinated. “The chief minister has not even replied to the letter which is very disappointing,” Dubey relays.

While industry people like Salman Khan and Aditya Chopra are transferring money into cine workers’ accounts with the promise to support them till the time the industry bounces back into action, they are upset with the government’s apathy towards their predicament.
