Music composer Laxman of the Raam-Laxman duo passes away in Nagpur. The 79-year-old composer had composed for the top three films of Sooraj Barjatya films including ‘Maine Pyar Kiya’, ‘Hum Aapke Hai Kaun’ and ‘Hum Saath Saath Hain’. His real name was Vijay Patil.

It is learnt that he had taken both the doses of the vaccine but post that developed weakness. The senior musician passed away in Nagpur. He had been sick for the past few days. He finally passed away at 1 pm last night.

Ram Laxman duo has worked with an orchestra band. They were discovered by Dada Kondke. Rajshri production had a special sitting room for them. They were Lata Mangeshkar’s favourite composers. They rose to fame but did not really become a brand like Laxmikant Pyarelal or other composers. His composition earned him a Filmfare award for Best Music Director.

Lata Mangeshkar took to her Twitter handle to pay tribute. She tweeted, ”Mujhe abhi pata chala ki bahut guni aur lokpriya sangeetkar Ram Laxman ji (Vijay Patil) ji ka swargwas hua. Ye sunke mujhe bahut dukh hua. Wo bahut acche insaan the.Maine unke kai gaane gaaye jo bahut lokpriya hue. Main unko vinamra shraddhanjali arpan karti hun.”

In 1976, Raam (his partner Surendra) died immediately after signing the film Agent Vinod in 1977. Laxman continued to retain Raam’s name in Marathi as well as Hindi films.

In Marathi, they composed music for ‘Tumcha Aamcha Jamla’, ‘Ram Ram Gangaram’, ‘Bot Lavil Tithe Gudgudlya’, ‘Aali Angaavar’, ‘Aapli Mansa’, ‘Hich Khari Daulat’, ‘Deedh Shahane’, ‘Lake Chaaalli Sasarla’, ‘Devta’ among others.
