NEW DELHI: The Earth could be impacted by a high-speed solar storm, approaching at 1,6 million kilometers per hour, according to information released by Nasa.
It could affect satellite signals and communication networks, as well as interfere with GPS systems, mobile and TV It could also interfere with power transmission.
Solar storms are huge bursts of charged particles, ejected from the Sun’s atmosphere into space.
The current storm is a result of a ‘hole’ in the Sun’s equatorial region. It is expected to lash the Earth later on Monday.
Disruption in power and communication systems due to such phenomenon is common. However they pose no major risk to human health.
