Exclusive interview! Jasleen Royal: The short acapella cover of ‘Rangeela Re’ with Yashraj Mukhate was impromptu | Hindi Movie News

Singer-composer Jasleen Royal has established herself in Bollywood in a very short span of time. The young singer is known for composing songs like ‘Din Shagna Da’, ‘Jaha Tu Chala’, among others. Recently, she collaborated with content creator Yashraj Mukhate, and they composed a short acapella cover of ‘Rangeela Re’ from the film ‘Rangeela’ and shared it on their social media feed. In an exclusive chat with ETimes, Jasleen Royal spoke at length on collaborating with the viral sensations, lockdown-like situation, and more. Excerpts…

Do you agree that a 15-day curfew will bring the number of Covid-19 cases down?

I am not in Mumbai right now. I am in Ludhiana, with my parents. I came here last week after my parents asked me to on seeing the situation in Mumbai. But, I feel that whatever the authorities have decided is the best for our country.

You recently collaborated with Yashraj Mukhate. Tell us about it…

I have known Yashraj for a long time; we connected again and decided to do something fun, but none of it was planned. Creating the short acapella cover of ‘Rangeela Re’ was impromptu. Since the song is originally composed by AR Rahman, and he is our favourite, everything fell in place and was perfect. I am glad that the song has got a tremendous response. Soon, we will collaborate again.

What safety measures did you take to avoid contracting the virus?

I had shoots planned, but looking at the situation, I cancelled it; I am in the comfort of my home with my family. All I want to say is, please wear your mask. Maintain social distancing and hand hygiene is essential. As we all know, social media is flooded with requests of people who need oxygen cylinders, plasma, beds. I am trying my best to circulate and help out as much as possible. I just want to request people to stay home.

You had also contracted the virus last year. How did you fight it?

At the end of the day, you have to be cautious, eat healthy food, wash your hands, and not venture out if it isn’t an emergency. It’s not just about you, and it’s about your family too, do it for them. And ensure that you take the vaccine. Even after taking the vaccine, ensure that you follow all safety precautions.

What’s next?

My next will be with B Praak for the film ‘Shershaah’. And there are a couple of other things in the pipeline as well.
