Bollywood star Hrithik Roshan joined a host of American and Hollywood stars to help raise funds for India’s COVID-19 relief efforts. The actor, who plays the superhero ‘Krrish’ on-screen, did his bit to contribute to the cause and help raise an estimated USD 3.68 million.

According to a post by author Jay Shetty, Roshan contributed USD 15,000 to the fundraiser, which had stars including Shawn Mendes, Jada and Will Smith, Jamie Kern Lima and many others donating towards the initiative to aid relief efforts in India.

Thanking everyone who participated in the fundraiser, Shetty said in his post, “My heart is filled with joy knowing that lives will be helped and saved. This is just the beginning! We have a lot of work to do.”

On hearing about the total funds collected, Hrithik extended a note of gratitude and said with a heart emoticon, “Congratulations Jay and Radhika…amazing”

Amidst India’s coronavirus crisis, celebrities from across the globe have been raising awareness and encouraging fans to help out in various relief efforts. Social media is playing a significant role in connecting donors and helpers to families in need. While some stars have been donating to various causes, others have been using their platforms to amplify the needs of COVID patients including demands for hospital beds, oxygen, medicines and other facilities.

Several Bollywood celebs like Taapsee Pannu, Alia Bhatt, Deepika Padukone, Sara Ali Khan, Bhumi Pednekar, Katrina Kaif, Sidharth Malhotra, among others have come forward to engage with their followers to amplify distress calls, share helpline numbers and support relief efforts.
