Remo D’Souza says, ‘film industry dancers are eager to be vaccinated’ | Hindi Movie News

Just like many film industry professionals, dancers are struggling to earn a livelihood as well. With the upcoming unlock plans promising to get things back to normalcy, resumption of work for dancers will be slow considering the government has issued guidelines to avoid shooting of songs with a large number of dancers. But the dancers are eager to get vaccinated even before they are called back on set. There was buzz in the industry that a few members of the film industry and set workers were hesitant to get the jab. But, choreographer-director Remo D’Souza says, “There is no hesitancy amongst the dancers and all of them want to get vaccinated. They have been sitting at home for one and half years and are very keen to start work.” But even he’s not sure when shoots of songs will resume full swing. Remo says, “Frankly speaking even I don’t know what will happen tomorrow and like most of the dancers, I don’t know when will we get to shoot proper songs for films.”

Associations representing the dancers have revealed that about 112 out of 750 dancers will be getting vaccinated today at a drive organised by the Federation of Western India Cine Employees and 112 will get the jab on Wednesday. Zahid Shaikh, President of Cine Dancers Association says, “Although FWICE has sent us a list of just 71 dancers for tomorrow, we will insist if more can be vaccinated. I have been getting calls from our members who are in their home town or at outstation locations, wanting to get vaccinated quickly so that they can get back to work.”

Trade sources reveal that just before the second lockdown was announced in Maharashtra, Rohit Shetty’s ‘Cirkus’ and Karan Johar ‘Brahmastra’ were gearing up to shoot big song sequences with a large number of dancers, but those plans were abruptly cancelled.
